Sarah Smith was one of seven Yorkshire sculptors who displayed their work in 2007 on the Duke of Devonshire's Bolton Abbey Estate.   In 2008 Sarah exhibited at the Lund Gallery in Easingwold, near York and at  Newby Hall near Ripon and in 2009 her work was seen at a summer exhbition at The Peel Castle. The Peel Castle was shown on Grand Designs and is an award winning building of great architectual significance.   Sarah exhibited again at The Peel in December 2010.

In 2010 Sarah participated in "on form 10", a much acclaimed biennial sculpture exhibition near Oxford devoted exclusively to stone  -

on form 10

This acclaimed exhibition is set in the dreamy Oxfordshire gardens of Asthall Manor in the Windrush Valley. Building on the success of previous exhibitions, on form 10 brought together 25 of the most accomplished stone sculptors working in Britain today.

on form is the only exhibition of its kind, devoted exclusively to stone and the exhibition attracted much press attention with articles in many of the major broadsheets including the Financial Times and The Telegraph.

Since 2008 Sarah has been artist-in-residence at the Samadhi Centre, a healing and meditation retreat in the hills surrounding Kandy, Sri Lanka.  For three years Sarah spent several weeks each year travelling the area finding different stones for her sculptures - most often this was granite but also dolomite limestone (usually crushed and used as a fertiliser for tea plants).  This culminated in an exhibition in December 2010 in Galle of the sculptures she had produced over the three years.

In 2011 Sarah will be opening her studio as part of North Yorkshire Open Studios June 10/11/12 and June 18/19.  This will be up at her new studio in the stunning landscape of Lower Winskill, Langcliffe near Settle where she is surrounded by wild flower meadows and limestone pavements with views of Penygent and Ingelborough.  For further info: www.nyos.org.uk
